The founders · AiGovOps Foundation
Meet the founders.
Ken Johnston and Bob Rapp spent decades shipping AI inside companies where getting it wrong has real consequences.

Ken Johnston
AI & Data Leader · VP of AI, Envorso · Former CEO, Autonomic.ai · Microsoft & Ford
Ken came up as a tester. He co-authored How We Test Software at Microsoft, and at Microsoft ran the teams that built A/B experimentation, product telemetry and the M360 business-intelligence graph — the plumbing that tells you what is actually happening in production. His last role there led data science and data engineering for Responsible AI, where testing and ethics first collided.
At Ford he was VP of cloud platforms and telematics, and CEO of Autonomic, Ford's connected-vehicle company — millions of vehicles streaming data, models predicting when a part will really fail, and real liability questions behind every prediction. He has managed teams from forty to seven hundred people on six continents.
Today he is VP of AI at Envorso, author of the forthcoming The Lean AI Handbook (Pearson), and co-founder of the AiGovOps Foundation with Bob Rapp. The thread is simple: quality, then telemetry, then responsible AI, then governance — one discipline pointed at higher and higher stakes.
“Every company had an AI policy. Almost nobody had an AI policy that ran.”

Bob Rapp
AI/ML Leader · Vodafone · IBM Watson · GE Healthcare · Microsoft · General Motors
Bob started at Vodafone, doing data at telecom scale before "data science" was a job title, and learned that the hard part is never the model — it is the system around it. IBM Watson, in the first wave of enterprise AI, showed him the gap between a model that gives an answer and a system a bank or a hospital will trust. GE Healthcare put him inside a regulated environment where evidence is not paperwork — it is the product.
Microsoft taught him platforms: how to make a capability something a thousand teams can reuse. At General Motors he works on the AI platform and the AI Center of Excellence — build-versus-rent decisions, and how hundreds of AI requests get routed to co-build, advisory or self-serve. Along the way: agentic architectures, RAG evaluation, secure robotics infrastructure.
Every role ended at the same question: can we say yes, and can we prove it? That question is the Foundation. Bob co-founded it with Ken Johnston and leads the automation — the gate, the checks, and the tooling that makes governance-as-code real in production.
“The most expensive answer in the enterprise is "maybe."”
In their words
“If your governance can't fail a build, it's a suggestion.”
Bob
“Agents don't need more rules. They need a receipt for every action.”
Ken
“Policies describe. Code decides.”
Bob
“Beacon proves it, Umbrella enforces it, Lantern explains it.”
Ken
“Safe isn't the opposite of fast. It's the precondition for fast at scale.”
Bob
“Open source is our peer review. If a control can't survive a stranger reading it, it isn't a control.”
Ken
“Ship safe AI — never unsafe AI.”
